International News:

Stephanie Reilly ran 9.49.78 to finish third at the steeplechase at the Oxy High Performance meet in LA at the weekend. Her time was inside the b-standard (9.50) for the World Championships in Korea and is currently fastest by a european athlete.

Everyone in Sli Cualann is very proud of her achievement and will be looking forward to watching her performances over the summer months.

Mountain Running

The Powerscourt Uphill race took place last Wednesday. An uphill only race is very unusual in Ireland. This course is very tough and will host next month’s trial for the European Championships which also double as the Inter-Club Champs.

The women finish second with the scorers being (2nd) Jenny McAuley, (19th) Aisling Renshaw & (25th) Liz Ryan.

The men’s team finished 5th. The scorers were  (10th) Ben Mooney , (34th) Jimmy Synnott & (49th) Martin Francis. Great to see Martin in action after a recent ankle sprain.

Other runners were Muriel Haire, Cormac O’ Ceallaigh, Cian Galligan, Dan Lawlor, and Brendan Lawlor. Roll on Glasnamullen this week….

(by the way we ask athletes from Sli Cualann clubs to please make sure that their IMRA membership details list them as Sli Cualann athletes – valuable team points might go missing)
